althouth this is a good price smoker the unit does not maintain tempuratue at all constant tinkering is required. you will find that there are sits out ther that show modification that will allow this unit to work but if want something to work out of the box this is not it i have 3 smokers this wast the first one i owned and it was by far the worst

Smoker seems sturdy but guage would not lock into dome. Manufacturer sent replacements for both. Same problem with replacements. Poor quality control on fit. Returned item.

Started learning the art of smoking meat with this simple setup. made a few modifications: added better temp gauge (ideal temp 200F-220F), drilled a few 1/4" holes in charcoal pan (better air to fire so can keep side door closed to keep heat and smoke in), cut hole top of lide and added smoke outlet with metal plate, place small grate on botton of charcoal pan before adding wood or charcoal so ash has somewhere to go and won't smother fire. These cheap modifications will make this inexpensive smoker go from good to great! enjoy!
