First of all, this grill looks great with it's traditional barrel design and smokestack. It burns charcoal efficiently and puts out a lot of heat. Coal height can be adjusted while you're cooking and regulates temperature very well. Great for large cuts of meat, racks, whole fish and chicken, roasts, etc. The cast iron removable 4-part grill plates are great cooking surfaces. On the maiden voyage I cooked many racks of ribs - when I placed them on the warming rack they dripped down the back of the lid onto my deck as well as out the bottom of the grill. The built-in grease catcher was worthless and did not catch any of the other grease that eventually leaked out the bottom of the grill and side vent - very messy. I had stalagmites of grease congealed on my deck. There is also not a very big lip on grilling surface which allows suicidal cylindrical meat products to easily roll over the edge. This grill needs way better engineering to make it perfect. The wheels are cheap plastic and the construction and materials are a little less durable than I expected. I'm generally happy with it, but I am interested to see how long both my enthusiasm and grill will last.

This is a Christmas present for my husband (which is no longer a surprise) but when he saw it, he seemed quite happy with the quality & size. He has not use it yet but says its well made and looking forward to coking our Christmas ham on it !

Service and delivery comments:

Customer service was excellent & s/h was included with the price. I did have a problem with Fed Ex ground. They took extra steps(literally) to leave it in the pouring rain instead of under a roof cover. Fed Ex did absolutely nothing for their mistake !! However, the company I made the purchase with, took very good care of me and showed concern that the entire box was ruined and product soaking wet. I hope they find a better business to ship there great products !

I am really impressed with the design of this grill. It is made of good quality materials (the grates are cast iron, which is the best grilling surface). I got this for my husband as a Christmas gift, and he loves it, especially the fact that it is a combo smoker/grill. He also likes the warming rack feature as well as the adjustable height for the charcoal pan. It is so much easier to use than our previous grill and will last alot longer since it is made of steel and cast iron. The only thing I don;t like is that it is hard to move around even though it has wheels. You have to lift the attached shelf which won't be good for that long term. We have decided to use a prybar for lifting from the bottom when moving it outdoors for use but we have to be careful as it is easy to tip it too far and topple it. Aside from that, I recommend this for anyone who loves outdoor cooking. Just be sure you have two people for assembly in order to get it done safely and quickly. I was not aware of the requirements so tackled the project the day it arrived, anticipating being done before my husband got home. Unfortunately, it took me a couple of hours, and he walked in just as I was finishing the last tightening of the bolts. So he got his gift a few days early!

I wanted to go the charcoal route simply for the smell and taste of it. There is so much room - enough to feed 30. Easy! And we did over Labor Day weekend with room to spare. Great quality, cooks evenly, very portable. The best value in a charcoal grill!

Suggestions:
Make sure you put aside an afternoon to set up this grill. This is needed not only to assemble but also to cure the grill with oil.

I suggest buying one of the charcoal chimney starters to get the coals going.

My favorite thing about this grill: It's got a smoke stack!
