Description

The Smokin' Pro Charcoal Smoker Grill allows you to entertain your guests with ease. The sturdy construction of this grill is designed with heavy steel for years of worry-free use. The Smokin' Pro also includes a 250-square-inch side fire box that measures 14W x 14D inches. This adaptable accessory is a great way to cook with indirect heat to smoke your favorite meats. It also adds more versatility to your grill by allowing wood and charcoal to be placed in the side box for easy refueling and clean-up.

For more even cooking, the Smokin' Pro Charcoal Smoker Grill comes with durable cast iron grates that are designed to retain heat on the large 580-square-inch grilling surface. Add the side fire box and you've got a total cooking surface of 830-square-inches. The cooking temperature can be easily regulated throughout the cooking surface with the adjustable grate. This grate is designed with two wire hangers that attach directly to the ash pan that holds the charcoal briquettes. Simply moving the ash tray upward will allow for more direct heat. Moving the ash try downward will restrict the amount of heat to the grilling surface for a slow-cooked meal. A thermometer is built in to the grill hood to display the exact cooking temperature.

Overall this is a GREAT buy for the money. It does everything one could expect. That said, the manufacturing process leaves something to be desired.

Specifically, when I added the side fire box the metal cut-out, it was impossible to pop out the oval hole in the side of the grill so that smoke and heat would have a path to go from the side box into the main chamber. This is because the stamped outline that was pre-cut into the metal did not go far enough through the metal to allow it to pop out with normal tools and effort.

Even a 3 lb. sledge and cold chisel wasn't enough! (and besides, it started bending the metal). The only solution was to take a cutting wheel to cut the rest of the way through the metal - it took over an hour and was a royal pain in the keister. I'm fortunate that I had a tool that would work - most people would not, and so would never get any use out of the side box.

Also, THE VINYL COVER IS ABSOLUTELY WORTHLESS - DO NOT BUY IT. It did not survive even one half of a Minnesota winter, despite the fact that the grill, while outside, was in a sheltered area. Between the wind and snow, it just ripped right apart. The manufacturer needs to increase the weight of the vinyl by at least 100% - probably 150% - for this cover to last a reasonable amount of time.

While I have my cons for this grill it is still not a bad grill for the price you pay. If you have spent more than 10 min shopping for a grill you know what i am talking about. If your looking for the best quality grill then you may wanna save a few bucks and get the top end custom built grill that you have saved in your favorites list to pull out and sigh at from time to time.

Pros are
1.Easy to assemble easy to read instructions.
2.with an oven thermometer you can manage the heat with practice.
3.The price is spot on for a mid quality smoker.
4.This is an amazing grill to start on for your novas smoker.

Cons.
1. Your going to leak smoke from all corners of the grill.
2. The ash tray on the smoke box does not seal all the way so your fire can get a bit too hot and burn your wood too fast.
3. It WILL rust fast.
4. You will replace this grill after a few years.

As I have said you get what you pay for. So do not expect to throw meat off the grill like Bobby Flay but it is a great grill to start off with and see if you want to commit to the world of smokers.

due to extensive damage to the grill box i refused delivery of the first grill. heyneedle said that the next delivery would have additional packaging but it didn't. neither did the third. i wanted this grill very badly but three strikes, you're out. i wish i could tell you how wonderful this grill is but i never got that far with it.

Just ordered my third one since 2001. Biggest group cooked for around 60. When I light the grill for something simple like a burger all my neihbors think were putting a feast on and didnt envite them. They will even ask us to grill there dinner for them if we are allready cooking. Absolutely love it-so do my neighbors!

Q1: What is the thickness of the metal?

A: 1/8 inch

Q2: Is the tray that holds the charcoal as big as the grate area so that fire is under the entire grate?

A: The ash pan that the charcoal sits on is removable. You have to move the grates out of the way to remove the ash pan tray. The ash pan is the length of the grill so you have an even fire

Q3: I notice many new gas grills do not require lava rocks etc.. Is that the latest trend for buyers?

A: Each company has its own system of retaining heat. Many of our grills have flavorizer bars of some kind that do not trap the grease as much as lava rocks.

Q4: Does the main part of the grill and the smoker both have dampers to regulate the air flow?

A: There are dampers on the right sides of the main grill and side grill. Once the side grill is attached to the main grill it covers the main grills damper. The damper on the side grill functions for the main and side grill.
