The Difference Infra-Red Heat Makes
Infra-red heat is light we can't see but that our bodies detect as heat. Here's why it's perfect for grilling food: Meat has a moisture-saturated boundary layer. Infra-red heat is able to penetrate this boundary without displacing it. That means the moisture is retained while the meat is cooked. Convection heating dries that moisture right out. This is why a hamburger shrinks when it's cooked on a regular old grill, but not on an infra-red grill. Char-Broil grills with infra-red heat create juicier, evenly cooked food.

Have never been able to cook a meal on this grill. Will not get hot enough to cook and when it get good and warm to start really cooking and if you open the lid to check food it takes forever to get warm enough to start cooking again. It sits in the garage just money wasted.

grill is new and does not work. First use tokk half hour to cook a veggie burger. Tried it today and does not heat up. Do not waste your money on this product. Looks great but that is about it!

Q1: Will the grease burn in this one even with the lid closed?
A: Per a call on 5-17-2011 to Char-Broil, the grate is full-cover so there are no holes for the grease to drip down through, so as long as you clean that grate off once it has cooled down after each use, fire from burning grease should not be an issue. Also, the infrared heat sears the meat to keep the fat and juices that create flavor inside the meat. The amount of grease created will of course depend on what you are grilling. YRB
