This is not a grill for the faint of heart, which is a positive thing. This is a very large grilling setup that comes in a very large, heavy (~200 pounds) box. How they fit so many parts in the box is an engineering marvel in itself.

It took me roughly 2.5 hours to assemble it, from opening the box until finished. The assembly instructions were very well written, the most informative ones I've seen for a grill actually. Nothing difficult at all about the assembly but make sure you have a LOT of space to spread the parts out prior to assembly - it pretty much took up the entire floor of our single car garage. We wheeled it into the kitchen and out the patio door and it "barely" fit through a standard door opening so keep that in mind if you have smaller doors and might need to wheel it through one.

There's just two of us and so far we've just used the gas side for burgers and steaks. The middle burner is all we have needed. With just that burner on high it will keep the temperature at 350 degrees, and it heats up to that temperature in just a few minutes. I did a test and set all three burners on high and within a couple of minutes the temperature was over 600 degrees, so keep that in mind as well to not bubble all the paint on top ! The thermometer goes up to 750, if I remember correctly - I know it's over 700.

The grill has fired-up instantly on the first push every time with absolutely no problems encountered so far. If there is one "weak link" I would have to say it might be the way the wheels/axle are setup. We haven't had a problem out of them but I don't think they're designed for too much moving around, especially over rough surfaces. The wheels are high quality steel and rubber (not plastic) but it's just the way they are attached to the axle that could present a problem at some point. Then again, maybe not.

I also ordered a cover after the fact and it fits like a glove. It is also high quality nylon with a soft inner liner, not at all like the cheap plastic ones.

We're looking forward to many enjoyable years from this grill !

My husband bought this for me and at first I loved it. I use this 325 out of 365 days a year. I don't cook inside other than the sides. In the first month the wheels broke they can't handle the weight. Then after two years the gas no longer worked. This is year three and it's ready to fall apart. We spent over $400.00+ adding the smoke box and cover. I would have expected this to last more than three years:(

Comments about Char-Griller Duo Gas/Charcoal Grill:

Purchased this in the box! set it up and in mins the wheels broke off the thin post axel. within 3 months the cover started to bleach from sun damage. within weeks of tears forming on the cover the shell began to rust and bubble up. within a year the entire pan on the bottem had rusted out and the sides were so also blistering after purchasing another cover the grill continued to rust and blister. Rustoleum will not adhere to this steel enough to stop the rusting! For the price of this grill you are better buying a shovel and digging a hole to put the remaining money into as this is just a money pit! heat, rain, sun, wind, heat rain sun air wind and repeat! This is an out door grill with bad wheels it cannot be transported easy so dont bother! Although the design is awesome gas and wood cant beat the concept!
